As Something Should

How do I say, I don’t want to be
A citizen? I want to be safe.

I want the citizenry to be
Civil to each other and to me.

It’s nice to have basic services.
Freedom from concerns about healthcare,

Its cost, its availability
Would be a relief. To feel no one

Ever felt that they needed to feel
Threatened by me would be a relief.

But I am not a good citizen.
I’m a mediocre citizen.

I don’t make much trouble for the rest.
If I’m worthless, I’m so in the cracks.

I’m glad most citizens ignore me.
I don’t know what I’d do targeted,

If insulted frequently. I would
Still like breeze to touch me, as you did.
